An exhibition to discover stone from the South of the Oise - Interview with Jean-Louis Marpillat

The exhibition "Stone basin, basin of lives" takes you discover the stone from the South of the Oise during the first half of the 20th century.

Jean-Louis Marpillat, President of ROCAMAT, traces the history of limestone in the region and looks back on this heritage which is the DNA of the Creill basin and of our activity:

“We are very attached to this territory since the Civet family, which is one of the families that created the activity that we represent today, was from Saint-Maximin (…) The diversity of materials extracted in the deposits of southern Creillois have allowed to build both prestigious buildings such as the Château de Chantilly, like the Abbey of Saint-Leu-d'Esserent, but also all the local buildings ”.

The exhibition takes place from July 3 to October 31, 2021 at the Maison de la Pierre in Saint-Maximin in the Oise.
