First use of stone in linear bands on curtain walls in France

To dress the facades of the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of Paris, the architectural firm Wilmotte & Associés Architectes wanted to give a Parisian identity to this project, by working with a stone used in Paris. The choice of the architect fell on the Massangis French, extracted in the Yonne quarries, for the facades and interior parts, and on the Rocherons Doré stone for outdoor spaces, which it is extracted in Côte d'Or.

The originality of the project lies in particular in the “horizontal” use of stones. Like slats, or strata, of varying lengths, they will dress the facades of buildings according to meticulous layouts. Nearly a hundred profiles or templates have been created, available in various places of buildings: slabs, milled parts, openings, curved, convex, concave, sculpted ... The objective of the device is to use the stone to play with it. natural light and reveal subtle nuances on the facades.

« Le choix de la pierre noble de Massangis, en provenance de Bourgogne et fournie par l’entreprise Polycor, qui recouvre notamment le pont d’Iéna, le Musée d’Art Moderne, ou encore les bâtiments du Trocadéro, renforce l’identité parisienne du Centre Spirituel et Culturel Orthodoxe Russe. »
