Richard Lenoir Townhouses

Paris, France

In the heart of Paris, two contemporary houses are dressed in stone

To design the houses located on Boulevard Richard Lenoir in Paris, the architect Vincent Eschalier had the major challenge of building two individual houses on a cramped plot of 113m². Far from freeing himself from this constraint, the architect created two volumes with an ambitious and elegant architecture which breaks with the classical architecture of this major Parisian axis.

Pour rythmer les façades et différencier les deux logements, l’architecte a choisi de les habiller de pierres calcaires. Les deux pierres choisies (Sébastopol et Buxy), extraites des carrières Polycor, apportent également de la monumentalité aux habitations.

“The facade is sculpted to bring out numerous projections and large glazed openings onto the boulevard. Thus, it breaks with the classical architecture of this major Parisian axis. The choice of materials contributes to this contrast: the stone brings a monumentality to the two houses, one is clad in Pierre Sébastopol like the neighboring Haussmann buildings and the other in gray Buxy Bleu stone. »
