The Peninsula Paris
Paris, France
A natural stone terrace with a breathtaking view of Paris
The Hong Kong Shanghai Hotels Limited group opens to the City of Lights. After a journey through the twentieth century rich in adventures, the former hotel "Majestic" has become an international conference center. It has just been completely rehabilitated by the companies CBC / Vinci and Petit. The hotel is located not far from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées. It takes place among the Parisian palaces under a new name "The Peninsula Paris".
The best craftsmen in France have worked for four years to renovate this exceptional place. The work was supervised by the architect Richard Martinet. The interior design was entrusted to a Chinese decorator who favored the Art Deco side. Polycor provided the Balzac Fleuri stone for the interior floors of the entrance hall and the restaurant: 30x30cm paving laid sealed with marble joints, fine black Belgian marble inlay. On the sixth and last floor of the establishment, a terrace called "L'Oiseau Blanc" offers a panoramic view of the capital. The Massangis Jaune Clair stone has been installed on the terraces on pedestals.
“Our objective is not to restore old stones, we are not heritage architects, affirms Richard Martinet, but we are working with pieces of heritage to make it something else, it's totally different”. Something else, that is to say the creation of an atmosphere nourished by intuitions where the organization is balanced with a staging and a scenography inspired by the spirit of the place. A universe of which the visitor will keep in mind the decorations like a capital of emotions.
