Goede Doelen Loterijen

Amsterdam, Netherlands

The natural stone chosen for a sustainable office building

The new sustainable building of the Goede Doelen Loterijen has been designed in such a way that employees, associations and residents feel welcome. Architecture firm Benthem Crouwel Architects transformed an empty and neglected office building into an extremely durable office building. The building was nominated for the Frame Awards 2020 in the Sustainability category.

The building has received the BREEAM “Outstanding” certification, making it the most sustainable renovated building in the Netherlands. An eco-friendly and durable material, Polycor's Rocherons limestone is suitable for both indoor and outdoor floor coverings. The architects and the developers chose the stone of Rocherons after having visited the quarry in Burgundy and evaluated the intrinsic qualities of the stone.

The Rocherons stone has been used to embellish several emblematic projects, including the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.

“A comprehensive and ambitious transformation of an empty office building near Zuidas, Amsterdam's booming business district, gave the Goede Doelen Loterijen their new office: a highly sustainable, positive-energy mixed-use building . Materials from the demolished parts of the old building have been reused, and all new materials are sustainable and recyclable and can be reused in the future if needed. "
